 1. Summary

Why are you taking the class?

Through these courses, I was able to gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts, working principles, and development history of Wikipedia and its related websites, as well as to explore the evolution and operation mechanism of Wikipedia from a sociological perspective. This process not only deepened my understanding of the characteristics and development trends of the information society but also provided solid support for my academic research and career development. I firmly believe that through continuous learning and mastering the knowledge of these courses, I will be able to grasp the changes of the information age more precisely, thus laying a solid foundation for my academic and professional career.

What I hope to learn

By reading Wikipedia articles, gaining a deeper understanding of the course content, and expressing my own interpretations and reflections on the articles, I believe I can deepen my understanding and application of knowledge. Through weekly blog assignments, I will have the opportunity to apply what I have learned in the course to study and explore relevant topics in depth and express my views and ideas in writing. This hands-on learning approach can help me to transform theoretical knowledge into practical skills and improve my expression and writing skills.

2. Interesting points

Wikipedia's content is created and maintained by a global community of volunteers. Completely free of charge, this large global community contributes daily to the development and improvement of Wikipedia and brings a wealth of knowledge to people around the world.

3. Discussion

As Wikipedia is an open platform, editors come from different backgrounds and positions. This can lead to sometimes some topics being skewed to one side and lacking neutrality and balance. I would like to see a more unbiased record of some historical events and a fairer and more unbiased interpretation and discussion of the events.

This content is typically available on dedicated free material websites, such as Wikimedia Commons, Pixabay, Unsplash, and others. Doing so can help avoid copyright disputes and ensure that the content we add is lawful. Secondly, if we wish to use others' work on Wikipedia, we must reach out to the copyright holders and request permission. Summary  I have taken classes from you, the professor, before and have always been interested in Wikipedia, so I chose to take your class this semester regardless. I understand from your introduction to all the courses in the lecture that this semester's Collective Intelligence in Practice course is centered around Wikipedia, which I understand is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and that Wikipedia brings together knowledge from around the world.
