I obtained the following information by watching the video The Pursuit of the Universal Encyclopedia and History of Wikipedia.

Before the Enlightenment, most people were illiterate farmers who did not need to read, write, or engage in serious mathematics. The Enlightenment movement introduced the concept of universal education, prompting people to start going to school, learning, and thinking. The concept of encyclopedias emerged during the Enlightenment era, aiming to collect and disseminate important information from around the world. The modern free culture movement emphasizes the free flow of information, especially through the Internet. Through the Internet, the concept of universal encyclopedia in the 21st century has become possible, solving the limitations faced by traditional encyclopedias. Although many problems have been solved through the Internet, people are still trying to solve more challenges. Some projects similar to the Opinion have been tried for many years, but with the support of modern technology, they have been realized. However, people are still trying to solve the new problems and challenges brought by the Internet.

The Goodman Plan and the Gutenberg Plan aim to digitize and archive cultural works, promote education and knowledge dissemination. However, due to copyright issues, these plans cannot include most works from the 1920s onwards. Nevertheless, they remain important free knowledge resources, providing people with free books and story collections. These resources are very important for scholars and ordinary people, because they represent a part of cultural history, but also expose the risk that some information may be lost on the Internet. The Internet itself is considered as another digital library, which aims to popularize knowledge and provides a wide range of digital materials, including books, websites, games, movies, videos and images.

The evolution of communication, from early painting and hieroglyphs to modern alphabets. It includes some important symbol systems, such as Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese characters, and how they evolved into more simplified and easier to write ideograms and letters. In addition, there are also some common symbols used, such as warning signs and toilet signs, and how they become effective communication tools. The way of communication is very important, and over time, humans need to constantly seek more effective ways to transmit information.

Cognitive surplus is a term coined by sociologist Clay Sergei, referring to the ability of individuals to engage in activities more effectively in their free time. In the past, people's entertainment was mainly watching TV or listening to radio. But with the advent of the Internet, people have more choices, such as reading Wikipedia, participating in social networks, games, etc. Although people have more choices in utilizing their free time, there are also some challenges, such as imbalanced information between different cultures and a lack of articles in certain languages. Therefore, it is necessary to address these issues by organizing projects and digital resources in order to make knowledge and information more comprehensive and balanced.
