W9.1 April 29 (Mon) - Lee jiyoon

 1) Using Wikipedia as a satire, Stephen Colbert's "Wikiality" segment presents through humor and satire the relative truths of users' consensus with criticism of the Internet encyclopedia's open-ended editing model. Colbert claims that Wikipedia can produce consensus truths rather than reality, which ridicule concepts of knowledge and authority and offer deep consideration of how the media communicates information.

2) What I learned anew after reading this article is that Wikipedia is mentioned and used in various media, including various works of art, music, and web comics. Through various creative uses, we learned how widely Wikipedia is accepted and how important it is in modern culture.

3) One of the questions arising from the reading is the credibility and authority of Wikipedia. Although it is generally considered a source of reference by many, I wonder how reliable its content is, especially how it is transformed for political purposes or for personal understanding.

  1. Just as we recognize Wikipedia's credibility and authority, I think others will. So if you use Wikipedia materials for other purposes, such as political purposes, I expect you to check the facts first. I thought it would go through this process because it's a public story, not a story between friends.
