Remix culture is a term that describes a culture that allows and encourages derivative creation by combining or editing existing materials. It permits efforts to improve, alter, or integrate the work of other creators. However, remix culture is increasingly restricted as copyright limitations increase.

Remixing has a historical presence as part of human culture. It can be found in 19th-century American art through communication between indigenous peoples and immigrants. With the development of the internet, remix culture underwent changes. One example is the shift to formats that are transmitted bidirectionally based on Web 2.0.

The decrease in the scope of remix culture has been caused by copyright restrictions. However, through this document, I have come to realize that there is a system that flexibly regulates these restrictions.

This system is called Creative Commons. It is a more permissive copyright system that began to restrict sharing and remixing activities on the web. It uses licenses as a tool to activate remix culture by allowing for the balanced and fair release of creative works through granting rights beyond the traditional all-rights-reserved model.

It was fascinating to learn that the familiar icons commonly seen when writing on personal blogs or reading news articles correspond to this system. Despite being familiar icons, I didn't know the meaning behind each one, so this document provided an opportunity to understand the significance of these icons.

In this document, remix culture is introduced alongside copyright.

Personally, I believe that remixing is necessary to foster diverse opinions and creativity. So, what would be an appropriate way to regulate copyright in remix culture? For instance, allowing remixing of music and video sources could be a suitable approach.

    I think digital technology can be used to facilitate the management and tracking of remix work. Technologies such as blockchain technology can be used to track and protect the source and rights of works.

1.Summary   This article discusses the characteristics of open content communities and provides a detailed description using Wikipedia as an example. The author first uses the term "community" to describe interdependent groups of people who participate in discussions, decision-making, and share some practices that define communities.
