Gallery pages on Commons are used to display media with captions and organize them in a more visually appealing way. Files should always be added to categories to ensure they are not lost. Galleries help highlight the best and most informative images within a category.

All uploaded files must be either in the public domain or under a free license like the GNU Free Documentation License or Creative Commons BY/BY-SA. When modifying and uploading someone else's work, the original work's license must permit such modifications. Commons does not include fair use content, as it aims to provide media that is freely reusable worldwide.

we can use media from Commons outside Wikimedia by following the license terms and providing proper attribution. The image description page should use the Template, and the Upload Wizard helps format this correctly. Attribution is necessary for certain licenses, so make sure your name is included in the image description. If a Flickr license changes, the original verified license remains valid.


Once we release a work under a free license on Commons, we cannot revoke it, so it is important to think carefully before uploading. If we have permission from the original author to upload their work, ensure this permission is properly documented.
