Summary

Interesting point

    Commons provides a range of tool libraries that cover everything from data structures to network communications and, in most cases, do not rely on third-party libraries.
    For example, it provides components for file uploads, database connection pools, logging, collection operations, and more.Wikimedia sites, by contrast, focus primarily on content creation, management, and display.They typically have their own user interface and permission management systems that support a rich plug-in ecosystem.
    As a project, Commons encourages developers to participate in open source contributions while also following the Apache license requirements to ensure that the project is free and open.Similarly, Wikimedia sites primarily employ open source licenses, such as the GNU GPL, to encourage community members to participate in development and to ensure that all derivative works must also remain open source.
    The main difference between Commons and Wikimedia sites is the target audience and the technology stack. Commons focuses on Java developers and provides a range of useful Java tool libraries, while Wikimedia websites focus on content creation and management, providing an open platform and API to facilitate community collaboration.They all play an important role in the open source community, but the groups they serve and provide different functionality.

    A few important things when uploading images to Wikimedia Commons, it's important that we choose the right license, the images should be high definition but not too big, and Wikimedia Commons is different from other wikis. The questions posed at the end are a good guide to encourage us to think and discuss more deeply about the unique value and usefulness of Wikimedia Commons.
