1.Summary
This article is a guide on how to create new articles and how to improve the quality of articles in Wikipedia.
The first part tells us about the preparations we have to make before creating a new article, such as: understanding the rules of Wikipedia, that we have to ensure a neutral point of view, that all information must be supported by sources and that no original research can be added. You also have to choose a topic that you are familiar with and interested in.
In our process of writing an essay, this post tells us to start with a rough draft and later on expand the essay slowly. The essay should be clearly structured, with organized paragraphs and simple, easy-to-understand language. Each paragraph should be written in such a way as to ensure that the information is accurate and that reliable references are cited.
In addition, we are shown how to use images and multimedia content to enhance the quality of our articles. We editors need to ensure that all images and multimedia files are copyrighted and used appropriately to complement the text.
We were also told to communicate with other editors while we were completing or editing the content of our articles.
Finally, this article also tells us that the articles we create need to be updated. By regularly checking and updating article content, we also need to be able to ensure that the information is accurate and current.
2.Interesting Point
Wikipedia has “milestones” for the stages of development of an article, e.g., from first draft to B, to A, to Recommended. These milestones are interesting, and the grades they set motivate us as editors to improve the quality of our articles.
3.Discussion
Wikipedia needs our articles to maintain a neutral point of view, but in practice how do we ensure that all editors adhere strictly to this principle?
It provides detailed steps and guidelines to help both novice and experienced editors create high-quality Wikipedia articles. This helps Wikipedia's content remain accurate and comprehensive, enhancing its credibility as a knowledge-sharing platform.
